Creek Hike
Hello! This morning we woke up to the shining sun and sweet smells of breakfast! We left for the creek on our bus. We saw a sloth, with a baby, as we pulled into the parking lot. We grabbed over sticks and set out for an adventure. We saw many poison arrow frogs, only found on the Osa, thanks to our guide Jordan. We had a lot of fun, falling and laughing lots of times, especially Clare and Riley ( nicknamed 2 stooges). We ventured far and did fun team activities such as waterfall climbing and we helped the person behind us. We saw a large spider and let shrimp eat dead skin off our feet. We went back and midway through the travel, jordan caught a blue morpho butterfly. It was very old because of the dull color and ripped wings. At the restaurant we had amazing vegetable and chicken quesadillas. We played ping-pong and cooled off with mango smoothies. Another fun day!! Miss you all!! <3 Skylar and Clare
Horseback Riding - A Wild Ride
Hello my friends! Today the Mannix/Geeding group went horseback riding! Today we ate a delicious breakfast and then we were on our way! Once we got to horse farm we got to assigned horses and learned their names. then we were off for a very fun and bumpy ride. WE traveled through many beautiful sites. We trotted, galloped, and walked. Walter and his family made us a wonderful meal of rice and beans, chips, and french fries. We also had ice cream!! We then played soccer and swam in the pool. Next, we met up with the zip line group and went back to the lodge! We went swimming in the ocean and chilled out around the beach. We had an amazing dinner and then made rosaries for the school we are donating to. Now, we are going to bed and cant wait for all the new exciting memories we will make! Lots of love to those at home! - Addie and Graceyn
Zip-Line
Hola from the Osa side!! (Adele voice) We woke up and had a great breakfast! It was toads-in-a-hole which is toast with an egg in the middle of it. Before getting on the bus to go zip-lining, we saw toucans flying and perching over our lodge. When we arrive at La Palma Zip-Lining. We received our uncomfortable but sturdy harnesses. Our first zip-line was scary and exhilarating. Everyone’s butterflies were gone after that. We were able to enjoy all 6 zip-lines!! While zip-lining we zoomed over the beautiful Costa Rican forest. The last zip-line was a half mile. We ate a great lunch and then we went to the horseback riding house and swam. We had a breath holding contest and Liza stayed under for 2 and a half minutes. After swimming, we went back to the lodge and swam some more in the ocean. We ate pork and mashed potatoes for dinner. It was great! Muy Delicioso! Buenos Noches mis amigos! Love and miss you!! Michael M, Jack Mo, Brian D, and Jackson <3
PS - thank you for asking us questions 1D! We put the bat houses today, so we havent seen if it has made a home to any bats. the pool at Hacienda Baru was very warm but still cooled us off from the even hotter weather. The waterfalls were 15 feet high and lots of fun!
Ms. Kelly has been diligent and dedicated to getting the blog updated and organized each day- big thank you! This is my first time uploading, as I sit in the internet cafe in Puerto Jimenez. We have been encountering God in many different ways since we have been down here and have been noting the many God moments. Getting off the grid and separating from the "screens" has allowed us to hear and see a bit more clearly. We hope you feel the prayers, love and energy each day from our group. We are thinking often about you back home- families, friends, St. Mary community and all. Thank you all for your prayers. We most definitely have been held up by them each day. Buen Camino! - Brian Geeding
Skylar I love reading your post and thank you for sharing all the amazing details! Shay said "What is the name of he horse that you rode"? Sydney said "I love you" and she loves your Hoover board!:) kisses to you and hugs all. Love, Mom, Sydney and Shay.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing such a great job taking pictures and posting them along with the comments. I am so unbelievably proud and happy that you guys are creating such amazing memories. I hope this fuels your inquisitive sides and instills in all of you the desire to continue exploring in this big beautiful world. Things at home a pretty much the same, T. It is so gray and dreary here, but the pics of you guys brighten my day. Dad and Lily are at lacrosse, Sam is at work and I am bored without you!! I keep going out to find the things we need for our new bathroom and kitchen, but I'm kind of tired of that, too. I know, total first world problems. I hope you guys all realize the gift you have been given in experience this type of adventure. Wear your sunscreen and your bug spray. Be kind to your fellow travellers and especially to Mrs. Mussman, Mrs. Keiser, Mr. Earls, Dr. Hutchins, Mr. Mannix, Brian and Miss Kelly. You couldn't have this trio without him. Tell Mr. Morgan I saw Mrs. Morgan at the Sports Club today. I love you, T, and miss you tremendously. Have fun tonight and I can't wait to hear what tomorrow brings for you guys!! Love, Mom, Dad, Lily and Sam
ReplyDeleteHi Grace and Everyone,
ReplyDeleteLooks like another busy day in CR! The blog entries have been fabulous with a lot of details. I'm waiting patiently for my sweet Grace's turn to write. The pictures are awesome, and you know how I am about pictures. Grace, I hope you are taking lots of photos with the new camera I bought you.
Kindergarten through 3rd grade went to see Sniw White and the Dancing Dwarfs at Children's Theatre today. Maybe a Talent Show idea??? My first graders were very excited that you answered their questions, especially about the waterfall being 15 feet high! (Lots of oohs and ahhhs)
I want everyone to give Gary and Randy a hug or pat in the back today. It would be their dad's 83rd birthday and I know they would appreciate it. Keep Captain Mirgan Sr. In your prayers. Thanks!
Grace, I'm again so proud of you for zip lining for the first time. You looked like you were enjoying it. Thanks to Tom and Julie for taking care of my baby! Your sister gets her wisdom teeth out tomorrow, so keep Sarah in you intentions.
Love to all...and I mean everyone! Mama Suz
Hi Grace! It's Jack:) I hope you are having lots of fun! The third floor isn't the same without you! Has anyone snuck out of their cabina yet???;) Hope you have crazy fun, just like I did!
ReplyDeleteLove ya, Jack

FR so jealous of you right now because it's been gross here!! We had snow on Sunday but didn't even get a snow day cause we already had Monday off... The strug. I hope you're having sooooooooooo much fun!! Love and miss you bunches
ReplyDeleteSup big man, and Dad! It's Charlie. I hope you two are having fun. I'm enjoying myself here with Big Nick by turning your room into a man cave. I miss you two and I can't wait for you to get home. I'm so jealous of where you are right now. I remember it like it was yesterday. Jack, I have been playing on your PS4 profile with Carri Vale.
ReplyDeleteMiss you guys!
-Charlie
PS. How my boys Jackson, Tommy, and Mo doing?
Hi brochure!!
ReplyDeleteI saw the picture of you in your horse. Dad was proud of you for staying in the shade. You don't look sun burned at all!!(that's a record) Anyways the food you eat sounds delicious. Do they really eat iguana? I love so much and hope all is well.
Holland
Loved yesterday's post. Liza, I could hear your influence, as you referred to it being "hot as malarkey!" Speaking of malarkey...Jack Doyle - don't be giving them any malarkey ideas about sneaking out!!!
ReplyDeleteYou all are so lucky to be swimming in the ocean. Was it warmer than Keating? Could you do a few laps across the peninsula in your spare time??? That would make Mike very happy! Gab liked the pictures of you horseback riding. She said that photo could go on the horse wall, although we still do not have one up of her!!!
I can't remember if the camera I gave you takes videos. If it does, Gabby wants to a video of the sloths. She wants to know if they really do move slow!?!
Uncle Jim has bronchitis. I went up to help him and Grandpa today. Please keep them in your thoughts and intentions! They need all the love and prayers they can get their way.
The house is so quiet with you gone. It is so weird!! I can even hear myself think!! Even more weird than that, it is so odd knowing that I can not pick-up the phone and call or text you. Take a minute to imagine what life was like before computers, telephones or even telegraphs? Our forefathers relied on handwritten letters and the pony express! I can only imagine how excited they were to receive letters way back then...probably as excited as we are to see your blog posts and pictures!!
The only other major development that I have to report is that Louie and Gabby actually got ready for school early today and left the house at 8:20 a.m.!!! Shocking, I know. Please let Brian Geeding know, that miracles do happen!!
Keep on having fun! Looks like a blast and it looks like it is your turn for zip line tomorrow...can't wait to hear about it!!
Adios, Mom
Addie Rose,
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are awesome. I love the pictures of your creek and equestrian expedition. Who knew that creeking could be so much fun? I'm glad you were able to find the elusive frogs and the other animals in the jungle. Did you win the creek diving competition? I'm sure Mr. Como attempted the famous triple linde and was in contention for a medal. :-)
How's cabina living in the Osa Peninsula with the Howler Monkey morning alarm clock? I wish I could be there to enjoy Captain Morgan's paradise and fine cuisine with you and your class.
Miss you and love you.
Dad
Hi Elliot and Dad,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having so much fun. I am jealous you got to ride horses. Miss and love you!
Love Mallory
Yo Jack Mo! Sounds like you are all having a blast. Jorge misses you so much - seems lost without you. But so do we. If you are eating everything they are serving, I expect the same when you return! Enjoy! Ich liebe dich.
ReplyDeleteMom and Dad
Hi Riley and Graceyn!
ReplyDeleteIt looked from the pictures to be another fun and exciting day in Costa Rica. Today Aunt Leslie and Anne both reached out to me and said that they have been enjoying following along your journeys through the blogs and the pictures. Anne went to Costa Rica when she was in the 8th grade, and is reliving many happy memories through your experiences. At the old age of 30, she still remembers all the amazing moments she had with her friends and teachers when she was 14... I believe all of you will too! It was so fun for your dad, brother and I to read your blogs today!!! Smiles, hate to say it, but we all had a little giggle at the look on your face when you were riding the zip line. I can't say that if I were in your shoes my face wouldn't have been the same! Gracie Lou, we hope you "channeled" your great grandpa Anderson while you were on that horse and roped a few cattle along the way. THAT would have been impressive!
We love and miss you to the the moon, the stars and back....
XO, mom, dad, Tate and especially Olive :)
Hey C-laire and Padre!!! It looks like your having tons of fun! I'm so jealous that you both got to ride a half mile zip line!!! Was it scary? Claire, tell all of your friends I say 'hi' and I miss them and that I have plenty of room to put my books in front of Adaline's locker. :) Will says hello and wants you to bring home an iguana! See you later!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Caroline
Hi Drew....looks like a great time. Have been trying to post and hoping this one makes it online. Thanks to St Mary and all your chaperones!

Hi Caroline! We finally figured out the BLOG! Looks like you are having a blast! What an adventure! We miss you a ton! Talk to you later Gator!
ReplyDeleteLove, MOM
Hi Caroline! It's Scarlet! I miss you soooo much. No one is giving me belly rubs or letting me lick their face! I sit at the door everyday watching for you to come home. Mom showed me the pictures of you and I wish I was there with you. Have fun! Love and miss you, Your Little Lady
ReplyDeleteHey Zook! Looks like you are having an AMAZING time, I am sure you miss us all here in Cinci... :)
ReplyDeleteI can tell that Meile, who never goes in your room, slept in there yesterday, so random. She must miss you (but not as much as I do!)
I looked through most of your pics here and it I was looking for any bandages or casts so I was happy to see that there were neither. Maybe Dr Hutchins has photo-shopped them out.
We can't wait to see you and hear all of the stories and see more photos from your amazing trip.
Miss you tons! Love Dad
Hey Bri, it's your favorite sister! I'm so jealous of you right now, I'm sitting in school looking at your awesome pictures! I don't doubt that you're having an amazing time just like I did! I bet the zip line was your favorite!! Rascal is enjoying the 3rd floor without you there haha! Can't wait to hear stories! Enjoy your last few days at the lodge! Pura Vida

ReplyDeleteHey Adaliene,
ReplyDeleteIt's Andrew - how do you like my bucket hat?
Tell Jackson - he has a cool hat!
Tell Alexandra - I like her Royals hat too!
I'm home sick today(I had a fever last night).
Angela MADE ME look at the Costa Rica blog . . . She made me type this too!
It looks like you and your friends had some fun in that 5 Star resort pool.
Don't forget to buy me the biggest machete you can find! (Mom said, it will have to fit into your suitcase because you can't carry it on the plane)!!!
Anyway - the house is quiet without you...
Andrew
PS - Mopsey might miss you, but I don't know because I'm not a "dog whisperer" like Annaliese.
Hello Travelers,
ReplyDeleteIt's Mrs. Doyle's first grade again! We just finished reading your blogs and checking out the photos. The photos are awesome and Matthew Szabo says, "Tasty!"
More questions from 1-D...
1. What's the funnest thing you've done? (Tessa)
2. Where do you sleep? (Cate) and is there a night light? (Campbell)
3. Has anybody gotten hurt? (Xander)
Ok, we need to get back to writing our George Washington stories. His birthday is on Sunday and he would be 284 years old! Enjoy the fun fact!
Lots of smiles, 1-D
Hey Carol.. I forgot to tell you something kinda important earlier………………………….. Your senior hip hop team got an at large bid to worlds. You are going to Disney!!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHello to Carolyn Kelly and her entire class down in Costa Rica, and a special hello to Clara Keiser and her Mom. I enjoyed reading about your adventures and looking at all the photos. I am currently at the Boise airport in Idaho getting ready to board a plane going to Las Vegas. I am a commuter who works in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. We had some snow in the Boise Mountains last night which is a lot different weather than you are experiencing down there now. Still some snow skiing in the mountains, but looks like Spring might be around the corner. It has been warm in Arizona, 70-80 degrees. I fly air ambulance helicopters and wonder if Costa Rica has any helicopters like that. I have never been to Costa Rica but my dad visited there for 3 months and learned to speak Spanish from a family that he stayed with. I think I would like to visit there someday because it looks like there is a lot to do. I hope everyone is enjoying their experience and will have some great stories to share with their family and friends. I wish I could go swimming and go on the zip line as that looks pretty cool. Take care and safe travels home. Your friend from Idaho, Paul Matheson
ReplyDeleteHi Jack and Dad,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys are having a blast. I hope you guys keep having a great time; Zip lining sure sounds better than doing Organic Chemistry! -Nick
Hi everyone! We missed you in music class today. We started learning "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on our ukuleles. Some people decided the bass drum, snare drum, temple blocks and wind chimes would add some pizzazz while Kaelin and Anna belted the lyrics out on the microphone!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're learning some "camp" songs to share with us when you return! From, Ms. Caster
Hi Matthew-
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are having such a great time. Keep the pictures coming! Bella is really jealous that she didn't get to ride a water buffalo when she was there....for that matter, so is Dad. How was zip lining? Do you think I would do it? It looks pretty scary. How are the beaches? Is the water warm? I can't wait to see you and hear all of the answers to these questions. Tell Captain Morgan we said he and Pura Vida!
Love Mom and Dad and Bella too!
Hi, Katie (and Julie). Looks like you are having such a great time and a wonderful adventure....sure wish I was there with you. Love the photos; they are sure keeping you busy and that's the fun of it. Love you and miss you!!!
